The other day, I watched a man walking with a toddler on his shoulders, swinging her chunky little legs around her father’s head. It’s something I’ve seen hundreds and thousands of times before, but for some reason, this time I wondered about the comfort of that position. I mean, first of all, the child must be able to sit and hold themselves up, but it also just looks very precarious especially regarding anything approaching overhead. And then I thought, why doesn’t he just carry her?
